Meet The 2016 US Amateur Elite Eight – Quarterfinalists

The 2016 US Amateur field has been reduced from 312 to eight. Starting at 1:30 this afternoon, the elite eight tees off in four matches on the South Course at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

  • Dylan Meyer v Nick Carlson – 1:30
  • Sahith Theegala vs. Curtis Luck – 1:45
  • Jonah Texeira vs Luis Gagne – 2:00
  • David Boote vs Brad Dalke – 2:15

Nick Carlson is the only Michigan native still playing  in the 2016 US Amateur at Oakland Hills. In a Big 10 matchup, the University of Michigan sophomore will face Dylan Meyer, a University of Illinois junior.

  • Road to the quarterfinals: First round, defeated Gavin Hall, 3 and 2; second round, defeated Ben Schlottman, 3 and 1; third round, defeated Collin Morikawa, 2 and 1
  • No. 44 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking
  • 2016 graduate of Stanford University
  • Received 2015-16 honorable-mention All-America honors
  • Tied for third at the 2016 Pac-12 Championship and 2014 NCAA Championship
  • Finished fourth at the 2016 South American Amateur Championship
  • Member of the victorious European Teams at the 2016 Arnold Palmer Cup and Sir Michael Bonallack Trophy
  • Born Sept. 22, 1993, in Kingswood, Surrey, Wales

  • Road to the quarterfinals: First round, defeated Zach Foushee, 2 and 1; second round, defeated Scott Gregory, 19 holes; third round, defeated KK Limbhasut, 19 holes
  • No. 1,981 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking
  • Sophomore at the University of Michigan
  • As a freshman, started all 11 tournaments, with a best finish of a tie for third at the 2015 Windon Memorial Classic
  • Born Sept. 11, 1996, in Grand Rapids, Mich.

  • Received 2015-16 honorable-mention All-America honors with three top-10 and four top-20 finishes in seven spring starts
  • Fifth at the 2016 Dogwood Invitational
  • Born Aug. 27, 1997, in San Jose, Costa Rica, and holds dual citizenship

  • Winner of the 2016 WA Open, an Australasian PGA Tour event, and runner-up in 2015
  • Earned medalist honors at the WA Amateur in 2014 and 2015, and won the event in 2014
  • Tied for third at the 2015 Sahalee Players Championship
  • Tied for fifth at the 2016 ISPS Handa Global Cup, a professional Japan Tour event

  • His 2015-16 scoring average of 71.06 ranks fourth in Pepperdine single-season history, and is the lowest average by any freshman in school history
  • Tied for seventh at the 2016 Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship
  • Born Dec. 4, 1997, in Orange, Calif.
