12 Hole Woodside Course Hosting GAM 14 and Under Match Play

Woodside Golf Course Hosting 8th GAM 14 & Under Match Play Championship

EAST LANSING – Woodside Golf Course is one of a handful of 12-hole golf courses in the country designed to appeal to those who seek a course that takes less time to play, those beginning the game and those who seek a less physically demanding experience.

The Hawk Hollow golf property, a sister course to the popular Eagle Eye, Hawk Hollow and Timber Ridge courses in the area, has proven to be the perfect spot for the boys and girls who will play in the 8th GAM 14 & Under Match Play Championship presented by Absopure Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 7 and 8.

Woodside, previously a nine-hole facility, added three holes in 2014 designed by Eagle Eye’s architect Chris Lutzke. It stretches over 146 acres along Wood Road featuring hardwoods that frame generous fairways. The 12 Woodside holes can typically be played in less than 3 hours.

A field of 32 boys and 16 girls will play in the tournament, which combines stroke play and match play. After 12 holes of stroke-play qualifying Monday morning, players will be seeded into match-play flights. Players will play three matches against other players of similar ability levels through Tuesday afternoon.

Last year, Saisha Patil of Okemos and Julian Sinishtaj of Macomb won the championship bracket. Patil, 13 and the 2023 GAM 15-and-under Girls’ Player of the Year, is returning to defend her title while Sinishtaj, the recent winner of the 15-and-under division at the Michigan Junior State Amateur, has aged out of the competition and is not eligible to defend.
