2008 Is Coolest In Five Years

So much for my hopes of global warming and a longer golf season in Michigan: the World Meteorological Organization reports that 2008 has been the coolest in five years.

That doesn’t bode well for the winter, either.

  1. I played Monday at TPC Southwind in Memphis at about 85 degrees in the middle of August?  Stunned.  Last night, my little girl and I went to hit balls on the range and have dinner at the club.  I actually got a chill when we went for our golf cart drive after the sun had gone down.

We have been having 70 degree evenings for the past week and a half (granted, we have a front stalled out over us since Tuesday).

  2. The last week or so here in Michigan has been October cool. On Tuesday, we went to the Zoo and I actually had long pants on and was wishing for a jacket.

With the exception of two or three very hot weeks, this has been the coolest summer I can remember in a long while.
