A February Round At Washtenaw Golf Club

A February Round At Washtenaw Golf Club

My round today at Washtenaw Golf Club marked the 107th consecutive month in which I have played at least one round of golf in Michigan.

It was a beautiful day for February. Temperatures were in the mid forties, and with the sun out, it felt warmer.

As is usual on any day when the snow is gone, there were players out on the course.

Washtenaw golfers are a hardy lot. I posted an article the other day about a Washtenaw golfer getting a hole in one in January 1949.

Washtenaw was in really great shape considering that three days before we had four inches of snow on the ground.

The grass was even showing a bit of green.

Aside from just getting in a few holes of golf to test three ZipCore XL irons that Cleveland Golf sent for review. The nine, seven and five were a perfect fit for the six club sunday bag I carry on winter outings.

My intial reaction is that they produce pretty solid results with a definite draw bias.

The other item I was testing was a new rangefinder from GoGoGo. The Vpro Laser Rangefinder is currently priced at $89 on Amazon and has all the sort of features one would expect to find in a moder rangefinder, such as pin seeking, flagpole locking, continuous range readings, and a slope function with a switch for tournaments.

I’ll have reports on both of these later.

It also seems likely I’ll get more golf in over the next few days. The warming trend should continue over the next seven days or so. Next Thursday the long range forecast has it hitting the mid 50s.
