My home course opened this week and I was thrilled to get out Tuesday for a quick nine.
Green Oaks is the municipal golf course for Ypsilanti Township, and is as good a golf bargain as you’ll find. I almost hesitate to extol its virtues for fear of it becoming too crowded.
Conditions were what you would expect for mid-march in Michigan. The grass was mostly dormant, and there was some standing water from the melt. I didn’t have any problem teeing it up, though. The ground had thawed at least as deep as that.
I was of course in generally horrible form, given the long layoff from regular play last November. The one bright spot was my chipping and pitching, which actually kept my score from blowing up completely.
I am heading out for another nine today after work and am hoping for some improvement in my irons play.

I know you are a walker. The email from Green Oaks gave rates “Riding” and “Walking.” Were they letting carts out? Cart path only or anywhere one won’t get stuck?
A couple friends won’t walk and I was wondering whether this was a solution.
I honestly don’t recall. I *think* I saw some carts.
