On my way to play a course in Oxford, Michigan, I passed what was once a driving range and nine hole golf course. It was overgrown with weekends, but range signs were still visible behind the clubhouse. There was no real trace of the course’s holes.
I love the A-Frame clubhouse.
Whenever I see a place like this, I wonder what it was like in its heyday. Who played there? Is there a generation of local kids who hit their first balls there? What were the nine holes like? What was inside that A-Frame? Did the place close for economic reasons, or did the owners just decide to retire without being able to find a buyer?
