ActivatedYou Morning Complete Review
ActivatedYou Morning Complete
Grade: Incomplete
Comments: I think it is possible that it has had a positive effect on my morning energy levels. But there’s no way to prove it.
ActivatedYou sent samples of their probiotic/prebiotic “Morning Complete” powders for review. After using them for a couple of months, I am cautiously positive about its effects. It certainly doesn’t do any harm.
Morning Complete is a grey-green powder that contains ingredients such as spinach, broccoli, kale, green tea leaf extract, cinnamon bark, tapioca, turmeric, black pepper, ginger, lycium berry, pomegranate and fennel. ActivatedYou says that the combination helps with metabolism, supports various cellular functions and has anti-oxidant properties.
Many of the ingredients in Morning Complete will show up in any list of superfoods: leafy greens, cinnamon, green tea, ginger, turmeric, berries and black pepper. In this, Morning Complete is in line with current popular thinking about superfoods and their properties. These are supposed to reduce inflammation and the effects of free radicals as well as helping with some digestive functions.
To the superfoods, Morning Complete adds prebiotics and probiotics. Growing evidence suggests that a fit body biome is the key to overall health.
Finally, ActivatedYou claims that the powder offers higher energy levels without the crashes associated with caffeine and sugar based pick-me-ups.
As with so many of these products it is hard to evaluate the claims without some sort of double-blind study. I think it is possible that I feel more energetic in the mornings after a glass of Morning Complete. I don’t know that my digestion or inflammation is improved in any away.
To be fair, though, I regularly eat a healthy diet that includes things like leafy greens, yogurt, cinnamon (in my coffee), tumeric (as a doctor suggested supplement to help with arthritis) and so forth. If you are not already doing those things, you may see more effect from Morning Complete.
Morning Complete comes in two flavors: Cinnamon Apple and Citrus. The Cinnamon Apple tastes a bit like a watered down apple juice. Similarly, the citrus tastes like a watered down orange juice. Both are pleasant enough.
A downside I will note about Morning Complete is that it does not mix particularly well. Shaking it up doesn’t really do the trick, and even when using a battery-operated milk frother, I still will find some residue at the bottom of my cup. Maybe I need a better mixer.
Ultimately, I think that if you check with your doctor, you may find that Morning Complete from ActivatedYou could be a useful supplement.
