Teachers’ Comments: Altwell pays attention to quality control and is willing to prove it.

If you are inclined toward CBD’s potential as a relaxation and calming agent, Altwell’s Softgels should be on your radar.

Proponents of CBD use claim that it reduces anxiety and stress (and possibly insomnia) through its interactions with the endocannabinoid system. CBD also seems to work on receptors involved in serotonin modulation. The science is mixed, though: Multiple studies have shown it works; others have produced less enthusiastic results.

My own experience with the Altwell CBD Softgels suggests that there’s something to the claims. I do think that they have a noteworthy calming effect after a stressful day of teaching in an overcrowded COVID factory known as a high school.

That said, I’ll offer my usual caveat: I haven’t conducted a scientific study. It is possible I am experiencing the placebo effect: that I feel more relaxed after consuming the Altewell softgel because I expect to feel more relaxed.

While I have read of possible side effects from regular CBD use, I haven’t experienced any of those in my short trial. I am probably a bad test subject for that, though. I don’t typically get side effects from medications or supplements. I got all three COVID shots without experiencing a single side effect.

Because the science of all this is so uncertain, the grade of “A” that I give Altwell is largely based on their quality control and on their willingness to prove it.

Each Altwell CBD Softgel for Balance offers 25mg of full spectrum hemp flower oil and 20mg of Cannabidiol (CBD). The company stresses that its products are derived from hand-picked flowers that do not contain leaves or stems that can dilute the product.

Altwell is so sure of its product that they provide certificates of analysis for every product purchase.

The ingredient list includes:

  • Medium Chain Triglycerides
  • Gelatin
  • Vegetable Glycerin.
  • Polysorbate 80 and 20 (Emulsifiers)
  • Medium Chain Triglycerides
  • Beta-Caryophyllene
  • Gelatin
  • Glycerin
  • Sorbitol
  • Blue 1, Yellow 5, Blue 2, Red 40.

Altwell pursues quality control to a fairly impressive degree. They source their hemp from Colorado growers, and test the product with independent third party labs. All products are traced from seed to shelf.

If you are a regular CBD user — or if you are CBD curious — I think Altwell is worth considering. Consult your doctor, et. al.
