Argentine Open Winners and History
The Argentine Open is one of the oldest national championships, dating to 1905.
Mungo Park, Jr. was the first winner of the tournament. Mungo was the son of Willie Park, who won the first Open Championship in 1860 (also 1863 ad 1866). His uncle Mungo (for whom Mungo was named) won the Open in 1874. His brother Willie Park, Jr. won the Open in 1887 and 1889)
Mungo, Jr. spend much of his career in Argentina and would win the Argentine Open three times.
Since 2000, the Argentine Open has been an official event on a number of different professional tours, including the European Tour, the Korn Ferry (current), the Tour de las Americas, the Challenge Tour, the PGA Tour Latin America, and Argentina’s own professional tour.
