Arnold Palmer – Aviator

Arnold Palmer was an enthusiastic aviator who logged more than 18, 000 hours as a pilot. He started taking flying lessons in 1956, and bought his first plane in 1961.

In addition to his Tour wins and Majors, Palmer held a flight record: In 1976, he set a record for fastest circumnavigation of the globe in his Learjet, taking just 57 hours, 25 minutes and 42 seconds. He made stops in Boston, Paris, Tehran, Sri Lanka, Jakarta, Manila, Wake Island and Honolulu.
