Bacon Infused Bourbon and A Bacon Bourbon Old Fashioned

Bourbon. Bacon. How can you go wrong with this?

I was watching a Food Channel show on cooking with back the other day and began to wonder if there was such a thing as a bacon cocktail. It turns out there are several recipes for bacon infused bourbon. All of them go something like this:

Add 3 cups (750 ml) of bourbon to anywhere between an ounce and a third of a cup of hot bacon fat. Stick the concoction into the fridge and let it sit. The bacon fat will solidify. After 24 to 48 hours, strain out the bourbon and viola: Bacon Infused Bourbon.

I think you’ll have to experiment.

As for the cocktail, how about a Bacon Old Fashioned:

2 ounces of bacon bourbon
1/4 ounce of maple syrup
2 dashes of bitters
dash of orange
