Bahamas Great Exuma Classic At Sandals Winners and History

The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic at Sandals Emerald Bay is a Korn Ferry Tour event held since 2017.

In an unusual move, the tournament is played Sunday through Thursday. The schedule change is designed to give the Korn Ferry tour additional exposure in a position that does not compete with either the PGA TOUR or the NFL.

The tournament is played at Greg Norman’s Emerald Bay golf course, which is adjacent to the Sandals Emerald Bay resort. I played the course in 2014, and had the opportunity to have dinner with Norman at the resort. You can see photos of the course in the gallery below, and see a great many articles on the Emerald Reef course and Emerald Bay resort at the link.

The other Korn Ferry Tour tournament in the Bahamas is the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic At The Abaco Club. The tournaments are sponsored by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.

“We are very pleased to host these two PGA TOUR-sanctioned events while showcasing the beauty and diversity of The Islands of The Bahamas,” said Minister of Tourism, Obie Wilchcombe. “Golf in The Bahamas is unlike anywhere else because of our top-notch hospitality and striking blue waters. Our islands have always been a favorite playground for many of the world’s top golfers and we are now looking forward to becoming a destination of choice among professionals on Tour.”
