Champions are the breakfast of Chuck Norris.

Basecamp Complete is a “plant based nutrition shake” from Chuck Norris’ Roundhouse Provisions. Yes. THAT Chuck Norris. The company sent samples for testing, and I have found the mix to be tasteful and satisfying.

If it looks like chicken, tastes like chicken, and feels like chicken but Chuck Norris says it’s beef, then it’s beef.

Each package of Basecamp Complete contains ten servings of a relatively dense powder. Instructions say to mix two scoops with 8 ounces of water. I found that a bit thin for my own tastes, so I substituted a similar amount of oat milk.

As with all mixes of this sort, it is essential to thorougly shake it to ensue a smooth tasted. At first I tried to shake it up in a tumbler with a lid, but that didn’t mix it well enough; I went out and bought a tumbler with a wire ball agitator specifically made for such powders. That worked well.

The tastes is slightly of chocolate and not too sweet. With the agitator tumbler, it had none of the graininess I have found with other protein powders I have tried.

Chuck Norris can unscramble an egg.

I have for many years consumed a protein shake for breakfast, usually of the pre-mixed sort — Premier Protein or somesuch. Basecamp Complete has less protein than my usual elixers, but it still holds me from dawn to noon.

Basecamp Complete is a 280-calorie, 18 grams of protein breakfast drink. It boasts a healthy dose of 28 different vitamins and minerals. In comparing to my usual shakes, Basecamp has more of some of the vitamins and minerals, and fewer of others.

My only concern is the price. If you buy it in bulk, at the “free account” rate, it comes out to around $4 a shake. I get the Premier Protein for about $1.60 a shake.

If you are less price conscious than I, though, Chuck Norris’ Basecamp Complete may be just the thing for your meal replacements.
