Best Golf Wins Of The Last Decade?
It has been a mesmeric last ten years of golf, and there have been a number of standout moments that have captivated fans from around the world. But some of the bigger wins stand out more than most, as they have etched into the memories of fans and they aren’t soon to forget where they were when these moments occurred. But, which of the wins from the past decade stand out more than most?
Betway’s punters having been staking their money on golf throughout the past decade, and it can often be a lucrative option when you bet on golf at betway. Hopefully there are some more surprise winners in 2020 for the Betway customer.
Duel In The Sun
You never forget your first, and that’s something that will particularly be the case for Henrik Stenson, as he overcame Phil Mickelson in one of the most dramatic Open’s in recent memory back in 2016. Both players showcased their very best, and that was highlighted by the fact that Mickelson was eleven shots clear of the man in third place.
The two at the top of the leaderboard went about their battle throughout the final day of action at Troon, before Stenson eventually ran out the winner by two shots. To make the accomplishment even more special, it was the first-ever major win from a Swedish male, and it isn’t one that we will soon forget.
Tiger’s Number 15
One of the most remarkable comebacks in sporting history was achieved at the 2019 Masters, as Tiger Woods did the unthinkable and bounced back from surgeries and personal troubles to win his 15th major. The success at the Masters was Woods’ first major success in eleven years, and the atmosphere on the final green was something that nobody would be forgetting about anytime soon.
Tiger would win by just the one-shot from Brooks Koepka, Xander Schauffle and Dustin Johnson. There was a tear in the eye of most fans in attendance at Woods sank his last shot, before being greeted by his mother and his kids; the latter of which wouldn’t have ever seen their father win a major before this success.
McIlroy’s First Major
It seems that Rory McIlroy has been on the scene for a long time now, but his first major success came right at the beginning of the decade at Congressional. The success was even more beautiful considering the nightmare than he had endured at Augusta just a few months earlier.
However, he performed well beyond his age of 22 to stay calm in the face of pressure to lead from the very first round until the end. He also went on to break eleven US Open records over the course of the weekend, and his excellent performance was capped by the fact that he won by a remarkable eight shots. It was one of the finest performances of the decade, and without it, we may not have seen the quality that we have become accustomed to from the Northern Irishman. This success may have been his first, but he is sure to add more to his tally over the next decade.
