The tournament now known as The AT&T Pro-Am began life as the “Crosby Clambake” in 1937. Crosby, one of the best known singers and actors of the mid-twentieth century, was part of the tournament until his death in 1977 at the age of 74. Perhaps fittingly, Crosby, a golf addict, died on a golf course.
