The golf apparel company Birdy and Grace is looking for nominiations for an “everyday” Golf Woman of the Year. I’ll confess that I’ve never heard of Birdy and Grace, but an award for the “common woman” is a nice idea.

2011 Search for Golf Woman of the Year
-Golf Apparel Company Celebrates Inspirational Women in Special Contest-
Greenwich, CT (April 4, 2011)—Birdy & Grace, a niche market player in the world of women’s golf fashion, kicks off its second annual Golf Woman of the Year search.
Birdy & Grace decided to launch a Golf Woman of the Year contest in 2010, in order to identify “everyday” women who through their lives inspired or helped others. Shannon Hall of Wilmington, North Carolina, was selected as the first Birdy & Grace Golf Woman of the Year. She was celebrated for her extensive community service, nursing career and belief that golf helped her cope with her battle to overcome cancer.
“In choosing Shannon as the inaugural Birdy & Grace Woman of the Year, we brought to life the spirit of the brand,” states founder Sharon Sunoo. “We have a passion for the game, family, community and healthy living. Our intent with this contest is to honor an individual who is making a difference without fanfare or publicity, who loves golf and who does it all with a certain grace.”
The nationwide search for the next Golf Woman of the Year is being promoted to members of golf clubs, women’s golf leagues, customers of pro shops, resorts and upscale retail outlets. The winner will be announced in July.
Requirements for Golf Woman of the Year eligibility are:

· Essay must be submitted to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) by June 1, 2011
The winner will be announced on July 1. She will receive a trip to New York City for a photo shoot with a top fashion photography team. The winner will be showcased as a featured model in a forthcoming Birdy & Grace collection catalogue (also in pr campaigns for Spring 2012), and will receive custom-fitted outfits, as well as other prizes.
“We want all women golfers who fit the criteria to enter our contest and to encourage their golfing friends also to enter,” adds Teress Stephens, Birdy & Grace designer and partner. “This contest will show just how amazing they are. Our tag line ‘Take Flight’ not only relates to the game but it symbolizes success and achievement. Our company encourages women to ‘take flight’ in the sport they love and in the life they lead.”
