Priced at just $129, the Boblov range finder offers a feature set that a couple of years ago would have cost twice as much.

The Boblov golf laser rangefinder handles its most basic task very well. The unit very quickly locks onto the flagstick to give an accurate distance reading. Comparing the results to a (much) more expensive unit from another manufacturer, I got identical distance results.

The Boblov features flag locking and vibration notification

Beyond the basics, the Boblov laser rangefinder also offers “Flag Lock” and “Vibration Technology.” The former helps the device hone in on the flagstick, while the latter sends a tactile signal when the target has been acquired.

Both of these features work as advertised. I remember well the fiddly nature of early laser rangefinders. Narrowing in on the target was tricky; in the span of seconds, you could get half a dozen different readings, never settling on one as canon. It is a very different story with the current generation of rangefinders such as the Boblov.

In addition to the basic rangefinding tasks, the Boblov has a slope function that provides adjusted distances based on the angle of the shot. This function can be turned off to make the device tournament legal.

The Boblov comes with a case and charging cable.

The Boblov operates on an internal 3.7v lithium battery that is charged with a USB cable. I got through several rounds on a single charge.

A carrying case is included. It hangs nicely from the golf bag.
