Boulder Creek GC To Host 14th GAM Women’s Four-Ball

Boulder Creek Golf Club Hosting 14th GAM Women’s Four-Ball

GRAND RAPIDS – Boulder Creek Golf Club, a popular public golf course in suburban Grand Rapids, will host many of the state’s top amateur women golfers Monday and Tuesday, July 15-16, in the 14th GAM Women’s Four-Ball Championship.

A field of 38-two golfer teams will compete in four-ball or best-ball stroke play over 36 holes. Championship teams will be determined in the Overall Division (ages 49-and-under) and the Senior Division (50-and-over).

Boulder Creek is hosting a Golf Association of Michigan tournament for the first time. The 18-hole layout was designed by Mark DeVries and measures 6,949 yards maximum with a slope rating of 131 and 73.5 USGA rating. Five sets of tees make it work for players of various skill levels.

It opened in 1998 and in 1999 hosted an Epson Tour tournament. In addition to the golf course, it features a full practice range, instruction programs and a popular restaurant and banquet facilities.

Amy Pollack is the general manager and the head PGA golf professional at the facility, and Mike Robart is the superintendent.

Last year at Clio Country Club, Ada’s Joan Garety and Terry Delcamp, who is now living in Florida and returned home to play, teamed up to win the senior title for the unprecedented seventh time together.

Megan Miron of Canada and Paula Badino of Argentina, teammates at Grand Valley State University who were living in Allendale for the summer, won the overall division shooting a final-round 8-under 64.

Both championship teams are returning for this year’s championship.

The two winning teams of the tournament’s 14th edition will have their names inscribed on the permanent tournament trophy, which is named The Garety/Hiestand Trophy in honor of Garety and fellow Michigan Golf Hall of Fame member Mary Jane Hiestand.
