The Braven 105 bluetooth speaker has a clever design as much at home on the desktop as in the field. About the size of an average man’s palm, the round speaker has three mounts to make it easy to take anywhere. The Braven 105 has a desktop stand, an elastic strap and a 1/4 inch thread mount. The elastic strap has a pin on one end that slides out so that it can be wrapped around an object to secure the speaker. In this fashion, it also could be secured to a strap, a secure loop on a golf bag, a cart steering wheel, the cart basket, or to a cart roof post. In short, if you enjoy music on the course, the Braven 105 makes it easy to take with you. The weight is negligible.

Sound quality on the Braven 105 is solid. Audiophiles likely will have some complaints (are they ever satisfied?), but for my purposes — casual listening — it is perfectly fine. For me, the unit’s primary use has been on my desktop and with my tablet, serving as a speaker when watching video. The sound is great for that.

Promotional material for the Braven 105 says that the battery will last eight hours. I can attest that it lasts through at least three movies — so that seems about right.

I have to confess that I am not really a fan of music on the golf course (nor do I understand some people’s need to walk around with earbuds in at all times). I really don’t understand the need to go through life with a perpetual soundtrack, as though you are in a movie or tv show. Peace and relative quiet are two of the reasons golf holds for me so much appeal.
