In 1945, Byron Nelson not only won eleven tournaments in a row; he also won a remarkable 18 of 30. Nelson also finished second seven times. He was thus in a position to win 25 of thirty tournaments.

Nelson never finished out of the top ten, and only twice out of the top five. That year, Nelson’s overall scoring average was 68.33, a record which stood until Tiger Woods eclipsed it in 2000 with a 68.17.
