I’ve never had any luck with hybrids. I think that it probably stems from some unresolved mental confusion over whether to play them like an iron or like a wood.
There would be no such confusion with the Apex Utility Irons from Callaway. These have the look of a traditional club, but are designed as an easier-to-hit alternative.
The clubs are hollow, with a “forged face cup” designed to get higher ball speeds across the face. Sole weighting lowers the center of gravity to help get the ball in the air.
I’ve been loving the set of Callaway Apex Irons that Callaway sent me for testing, and think that given the feel and accuracy of those clubs I would similarly love these.
