Can Monty Finally Pull A Rabbit Out of The Hat?

At Carnoustie, can Colin Montgomerie finally win the major that has eluded him for so long? At least one writer thinks—hopes—so.

At the French Open a fortnight ago he rediscovered the lovely looping fade of his pomp. He is holing a few putts. He has finally won again. And just to remind you again, because Monty surely will, he has played Carnoustie in fewer shots than any man on the planet.

Monty also agreed with the assessment that he is Britain’s most enduring sportsman, noting that he won the Portuguese Open in 1989. He also remarked that the last time the Open was at Carnoustie it was he, Monty, who won the Scottish Open that year.
