There’s a fair bit of research out there that shows that the difference between an dilettante and a top pro in any endeavor is about 10,000 hours of practice. Based on this idea, one man has committed himself to putting in 10,000 hours of practice to go from novice to pro.
As much as I love golf, I don’t think I could do it.

10,000 hours of practice to go from novice to pro? Love to see the result – not sure how long he is going to take – I mean 20 hours per week means he is going to take 500 weeks to do it = almost 10 years. Sure takes a lot of dedication and determination to do that!
Yes, Dan has a plan. Get someone to underwrite his folly financially, sell advertising and eventually produce a book. This has been done before but not on such a grand scale. Recognizing that this has been done before, Dan needed a hook, something different. Ahh … devote 6 years and start from scratch.
This may be the last we hear of Dan … that is until he sends Golf Blogger a copy of his book to review in 4-5 years.
And I, like a fool will read the book and review it.
