In recent weeks, my home course has removed much of the cart path, and is in the process of planting grass in its place. Green Oaks can get away with this because the course is almost always dry — even when others are waterlogged. Areas off the fairway and primary rough are brick hard during much of the summer. Powered carts therefore will have much less of an impact than they would on softer fairways. Green Oaks also has what seems to me a high percentage of players who are walkers.
Wall-to-wall green down the fairways will be nice to look at. The previous cart paths were to a large extent crumbling and deteriorated.
