Langer is 65 years old.
Or perhaps I should write “65 years young.”
What is most remarkable about this is that Langer has continued to win after age 60. Most Champions Tour careers are over by age 60. Hale Irwin won just three times after age 60. By my count, Langer now has 12 wins since turning 60.
In the first round of the Chubb, Langer beat his age by a stroke by signing his card for a 64.
Here’s another fact that makes me shake by head in wonderment: Langer turned pro at age 15 in 1972. Two years later, he won the German National Open.
This year is thus Langer’s fifty first as a professional golfer. And not just a golfer playing in exhibitions or in a ceremonial role. The guy is still winning. He finished 29th at The Masters in 2020 at age 63.
Fifty one years. Let that sink in a minute.
Fitness is of course a huge part of Langer’s success. Read about Bernhard Langer‘s fitness routine at the link.
