Daly’s Suspension Over

John Daly says that his suspension from the PGA Tour is over, and that he’ll play his first Tour event this season in Memphis. He has been playing overseas, where he recently placed second at the Italian Open.

Daly apparently will get a sponsor’s exemption to the St. Jude in Memphis, which is near his home.

What I find more interesting than his return to the PGA Tour is his apparent intention to seriously compete for the European Tour’s Race to Dubai. He’s currently ranked 94th, and the top 70 are eligible to compete for the $10 million prize. No doubt that $10 million would go a long way toward paying off his gambling debts.

  1. Well, he pretty much has to come home to play the SJC.  Even with Sergio and Villegas, Daly will probably have either as large a gallery or perhaps larger than those two.  And for a tournament which is not in trouble, but has certainly had some scandal with Stanford earlier this year, Daly is needed to bring folks out.

He is putting in some good rounds too.  It sure would be something if he finds a way to win his first PGA event back. (and his first in years)
