Dave Kendall, Paul Haase Among Golf Digest’s Best Teachers In Michigan

I was not at all surprised to find that Dave Kendall and Paul Haase of the Kendall Academy were named by Golf Digest as two of Michigan’s best golf instructors. GolfBlogger World Headquarters is just two city blocks from the Miles of Golf pro shop that houses the Kendall Academy where they work. I’ve had lessons from both Kendall and Haase; both are excellent.

Kendall has been honored every year since the rankings first appeared in 2000 while Haase was first cited in 2007 and has remained there ever since.

“We’re thankful for this recognition and all of the support we’ve received from our fellow teachers,” said Kendall, a Michigan Golf Hall of Fame member and a two-time Michigan PGA Teacher of the Year. “We both love what we do: helping golfers to improve and to enjoy the game more.”

A former President of the Michigan PGA, Kendall founded the Academy at Miles of Golf in 1997 and developed it into one of the premier teaching centers in the state. He’s currently the only Golf Channel Academy  Lead Coach in Michigan. Kendall has worked with a number of high profile players, including Webdotcom player and former Michigan State standout Matt Harmon, and Henry Do, the 2014 Michigan Amateur champion. A two-time Michigan Senior Open champion, Kendall remains one of the Section’s best players.

Also a former Michigan PGA Teacher of the Year, Haase is well-known for his work through various age groups—juniors, high schoolers, pros and seniors. His students have excelled at state high school championships including earning “Mr. Golf” recognition, collegiate tournaments, state amateur and senior titles. This past Sunday, one of Haase’s long time students, University of Michigan’s Emily White, was the medalist at the prestigious Yale’s Women’s Intercollegiate held at New Haven, Conn.

In addition to Kendall and Haase on Golf Digest’s list, there’s also Lynn Janson who’s been a long time member of the Kendall Academy team, including regular stints on KA’s popular winter schools in Florida. A member of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame, Janson is a five-time Michigan PGA Player of the Year.

In all, there are nine instructors at Kendall Academy who are busy year-round at Miles of Golf, a full-service golf operation offering a retail store, practice and teaching facility, and club-fitting center in Ypsilanti. Located on 3113 Carpenter Road, it can be reached at (734) 973-9004 or toll-free at (877) 973-9005. Additional information is available at www.kendallacademyofgolf.com
