Amazon has some deep discounts on Garmin GPS units (the navigation kind) today. I don’t know what prompted it, but some of the prices are amazing:
For example, the Garmin nüvi 760 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Automobile Navigator is now $199, down from $599. That’s 67% off.
A heckuva better deal than you’ll find at a Circuit City closeout. There are others just as good.
I love my GPS unit. It’s great for finding my way to uncertain destinations (like a new golf courses), and I’m convinced that it makes my driving safer, since I don’t have to look for signs or consult a map. In the summer, I love to head out in a random direction and drive until a golf course shows on the screen that I don’t recognize. Then I’ll touch that “point of interest” icon, and the Garmin leads me there. I’ve found a lot of good ones that way that I might other wise have missed. (You can do that in Michigan, where you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a course).
