Ecco is one of my go-to brands for golf shoes. As a dedicated — even fanatical — walker, I am quite particular about what goes on my feet. Ecco shoes tend to have the wider toe box with a slightly more narrow heel that I look for. I’ve found the Biom models also offer great arch support.

These latest Ecco Bion shoes are part of the Brooklyn New York Collection (thus the BNY designation in the name). Ecco says that it “blends Danish performance technologies and ECCO Performance Leather with a New York City vibe and aesthetic, with one colorway inspired by the Stars and Stripes. “

I don’t know what a “New York City” vibe is, but I like the color scheme. The white with the red and blue accents makes them snazzy without being ostentatious.

Also, compared to a lot of Ecco’s more recent street shoes, these have fairly classic sneaker lines. I’ve stopped buying Ecco street shoes because of their weird rippling, bubble wrap, and oversized soles.

Seriously, what is this?

Fortunately, I can still get Ecco golf shoes that aren’t so overproduced.

One of the nicest features of that Ecco Biom Hybrid 1 is that they have kept my feet dry on early morning rounds. I’m a member of the Push Cart Dewsweeper Mafia and I have sometimes played rounds where I was forced to change my shoes and socks at the turn (I keep extra pairs in the car for just such an eventuality).

Ecco says the shoes have a new waterproof membrane to keep feet dry. I’ve also noticed that the outsides don’t get as soaked as some others. THere must be something abotu the leather. These are definitely my morning round shoe choice.

From a playing perspective, I think these have sufficient treads to offer solid footing. I certainly do not slip at all when playing on wet grass. That said, I also don’t swing anywhere near pro level speeds.

I also appreciate that they are flexible enough to offer smooth transition footwork. I find that having a more flexible sole helps keep my swing fluid.

Here’s what the Ecco says about their Biom Hybrid 1 BNY

  • Exclusive, all-American design crafted from ECCO Performance Leather with premium textiles as accents on the collar
  • Waterproof membrane keeps your foot dry and comfortable in wet conditions
  • BIOM® NATURAL MOTION® technology brings you closer to the ground using an anatomical last
  • Award-winning E-DTS® traction system consists of approximately 100 TPU traction bars boasting 800 traction angles
  • ECCO FLUIDFORMâ„¢ Technology creates a lightweight, ergonomically advanced sole offering cutting-edge comfort and flexibility
  • Removable insole for long-term cushioning and enhanced breathability

The Ecco Biom is going into my regular shoe rotation (I don’t wear the same golf shoes on consecutive days). They’re comfy for walking, sharp looking, play well, and maybe most importantly, keep my feet dry.
