Fitness Friday: Five Stretches For A Better Golf Swing

I ran across this video on exercises to achieve an effortless golf swing, and was struck that two of the stretches shown were among those I was taught by my physical therapist to relieve my lower back pain.

All five were shown to me in one form or another by Skip Bunton of Body Specs, which is located in the former exercise/pool building at Washtenaw Golf Club. I had several sessions with Skip earlier this season and have continued to do many of the routines he taught. They’ve worked in the sense that I have had just two (brief) debilitating lower back issues this season (knock on wood).

The video is full of promotions for an app, but the demonstrations of the stretches are very clear. All the usual cautions apply: these guys are not licensed physical trainers, consult with your personal physician before undertaking a fitness program, and so forth.
