Flint native & PGA Tour Latinoamerica player Willie Mack III Survives Car Fire

Willie Mack III, winner of the 2011 Michigan Amateur and a PGA TOUR Latinoamerica player lost his car, clothes, hats, golf balls, shoes and many other belonging when his 2012 Kia Optima caught fire on a highway in Florida. Mack escaped from the car, somehow managing  to save his clubs.

A fellow tour player, Doug Smith, set up a GoFundMe campaign for Mack. (usual warnings about due diligence, no connection with this blog, etc.)

Mack was a star at Grand Blanc High School and won the America Junior Golf Association’s Buick Junior in 2006. He became the first African American to win the Michigan Amateur in 2011. Now 30, Mack played in two PGA TOUR Latinoamerica events in 2018, playing the rest of the time on mini-tours.
