Fore! Cards Golf Games Review
Fore Cards Golf Games
Grade: B
Teacher’s Comments: A neat idea if you need to shake up your group, but may get limited use.
Arriving in the mail this week were four small game packages: Fore! Cards, Fore! Drinks, Fore! Money and Random Club Dice.
The decks (and the dice package) are each designed to add a little novelty to your usual round at your usual course with your usual foursome.
The Fore! Cards deck mixes up the format of each hole, and also offers players individual ways to score.
Fore! Money asks players to accumulate “positive” cards while accomplishing feats, while avoiding “negative” cards for miscues. Before the round players are to assign a monetary value to each point. At the end, points are totaled and bets settled.
Fore! Drinks is a deck of inventive drinking game rules. Before each hole, draw a card which determines the conditions under which drinks are consumed. The golfers I play with don’t need an excuse to drink adult beverages, so this might actually reduce their consumption.
The Random Club Dice set is very different from the others. To use this one, on each hole, the six sided die is rolled to determine how the hole is played: 1 Club (on top face), random club, pick three random and so forth. The twelve sided dice are rolled to determine which random clubs are in play.
Perusing the cards in the various sets made me chuckle. They’re obviously created by people with a sense of humor.
The cards in all of the games are a decent quality cardstock, with a slight linen finish. They’re not going to stand up to heavy use, but I don’t think they’ll get the heavy use of a set of poker cards. You will shuffle once per round, and then just draw.
The boxes are sturdy, and small enough to tuck into a bag pocket. They’ve got a nicely designed clamshell opening that makes it easy to draw cards. The Random Club Dice box is deep enough to allow players to roll the dice in the box.
In all, I think these are nice little packages that would make a good stocking stuffer. I don’t have a regular group, so I probably wouldn’t get a lot of use from them, but if you’re doing the same-old same-old, these might be the trick.
