Fox Provides Preseason Analysis

Fox Sports has an interesting golf preseason analysis of the top 20 in the golf rankings.

Its hard to believe that the Mercedes Benz Championship is upon us, and that the first regular event—the Sony Open—is next week.

  1. Here is my preseason analysis (and my confidence %):

Tiger Woods wins more championships than anyone else in the PGA. 99.9999%

Lorena Ochoa is #1 in the LPGA throughout 2008. 99.9998%

Tiger Woods wins 1 Major. 99.9997%

Tiger Woods wins 2,3, or 4 Major Championships.  99.9996%

Tiger Woods wins the FedEx Cup, and it goes unkissed through year 2. 98%

Michelle Wie is injured at some point in the year. 90%

Natalie Gulbis and Fred Couples will both win at least one tourney each.  (70% confident one will win, 100% hopeful both will win)

Michelle Wie will not win a tourney this year. 60%

  2. Oh, and two more:

Rory Sabatini will say something stupid – 100%

Phil Mickelson will do something stupid to throw away a championship on Sunday afternoon – 75%

  3. Tiger wins the Masters: 50%
Tiger wins the US Open: 100% (its at Torry Pines, a course he has absolutely OWNED)
Tiger wins the Open Championship: 50% – its only his second appearance at Royal Birkdale. In 1998 he finished third.
Tiger wins the PGA Championship: 25% – Tiger has neverot played well at Oakland Hills. He finished 82nd defending there as reigning US Amateur Champion. Then there was the Ryder Cup … he played ok, but not dominating.
