GAM Championships For Summer 2013

Here’s a list of Golf Association of Michigan (GAM) Championships for the summer of 2013:

GAM Men’s Championships

  • GAM Championship Aug. 5-6 at Birmingham CC. Eighty-four players will compete for 36 holes after which the field will be cut to 30 for the second day of play and the final 18 holes of the tournament. All players and cadies are required to walk and complementary lunch will be served the first day of competition. Food will be available for purchase on the second day.

  • GAM Mid-Amateur Championship Aug. 29-30 at Boyne Resorts (Hills & Ross courses). This championship is open to golfers 25 years of age and older and features Mid-Am, Mid-Senior, Senior and Super Senior divisions. Carts are mandatory for this tournament and are included in the registration fee.

  • Senior Mid-Am Team Championship May 20 at Oakland University G&LC. This very popular tournament features morning and afternoon shotgun starts. Although it is one of our newer tournaments, it tends to fill up fast so be ready to register right away.

  • GAM Senior Four-Ball Aug. 19-20 at Kent CC. Grab a partner and check out one of the newer GAM competitions. Carts are mandatory and there is buffet lunch served both days.

  • GAM Senior Match Play May 28-31 at Travis Pointe CC. Features Senior and Super Senior divisions. After the first day of stroke play, the Senior field is cut to 32 players and the Super Senior field is cut to 16 players for the start of match play on day two of the tournament.

  • 102nd Michigan Amateur Championship June 18-22. at Muskegon CC Contestants in this tournament that combines stroke play and match play must have a USGA Handicap Index of no greater than 5.4.

  • GAM Senior Sept. 9-10 Belvedere CC. Competitors must be at least 55 years of age to compete. Practice rounds are available but you must call the pro shop in advance and identify yourself as a participant in the GAM Senior Championship.

    GAM Women’s Championships

  • GAM Women’s Four-Ball July 22-23 at Great Oaks CC. Carts are mandatory for this event and a complimentary lunch will be provided each day of competition.

  • GAM Women’s Championship July 17-18 at Gull Lake CC. All players are required to walk but caddies are allowed.

  • GAM Women’s Mid-Am July 1-2 at Polo Fields Golf & CC – Washtenaw. Players must be at least 25 years of age and can have a maximum USGA Handicap Index of 24. 4.

  • GAM Women’s Senior Aug. 26-27 at Michawye Pines GC. This is a popular tournament so make sure you are ready to sign up on the 4th!

  • Michigan Women’s Amateur Championship Aug. 12-16 at Walnut Hills GC. Competitors must be at least 13 years old and have a maximum USGA Handicap Index of no more than 15.4.

  • Michigan Women’s Senior Amateur Aug. 13-14 at Mount Pleasant CC. All players are required to use a cart and caddies are not permitted.

    GAM Junior Events

  • GAM Junior Stroke Play July 11-12 at Fox Hills Classic course. Caddies and carts are prohibited for this championship. Shirts with collars and sleeves are required. However, women may wear collarless shirts with sleeves or sleeveless shirts with collars.

  • Michigan Girls Junior State Amateur Championship June 24-27 at Forest Akers. All players are required to walk and caddies are not permitted. Minimum age is 12 and maximum age is 18 for this tournament.

  • Michigan Junior State Amateur July 29-Aug.1 at Radrick Farms GC. Minimum age for this tournament is 12 and the maximum age is 18. Thirty-six holes of stroke play will determine the field of 32 for match play.

    GAM Net Events

  • GAM Net Match Play June 11-13 at Grosse Ile Golf & CC. This is the second year for this tournament which features a morning shotgun start. Carts are mandatory.

  • GAM Net Team Championship Aug. 5 at Spring Meadows CC. Carts are mandatory and the entry fee covers carts for both the qualifiers and the championship.

  • Michigan Net Amateur Sept. 23-24 at Prestwick Village GC. Anyone with a GAM/USGA Handicap Index can compete in this tournament as long as they are at least 18 years of age. The maximum Handicap Index is a 24.2.

    GAM Father & Son Championships / Parent & Child Championships

  • GAM Father & Son Championship including a Parent & Child Division July 8 at Barton Hills CC. This day incorporates family fun and allows a father to play with all of his sons and his father. We might have a fivesome on a specific tee, but remember the golfers play fast because it’s an alternate shot format. There will be an 8:00 shotgun and a 1:30 p.m. shotgun competition, so hurry and register for this fun event.The format for this event is a modified Chapman competition with in flights based on combined ages of the team members (senior golfers play a more forward tee).

  • GAM Father & Son Championship including a Parent & Child Division July 1 at Railside CC The players of the Father & Son / Parent & Child Championship have requested a West Michigan site. With the help of our member club, Railside CC has agreed to host this wonderful event. The shotgun start is 1:00 p.m. and includes family photos on the tee, food, carts, range and more excitement and fun than you can ever ask for playing alternate shot with your family members.
