Get Grand Slam of Golf Highlights On ITunes

Following the first day of this year’s PGA’s Grand Slam of Golf the event begins Nov. 21), golf fans will be able to download a 25 to 30 minute highlight package from Apple’s ITunes store. The highlight show will feature interviews, as well as footage of critical moments and will cost $1.99 each.

It sounds like a neat idea, but I’ve got a couple of concerns.

First, I’m wondering if the video is limited to people with video Ipods. Can you also watch it on your PC, or on another video capable player, like a Sandisk?

I’m also not happy with the $1.99 price. I’d like to see it set at .99 like Apple’s music downloads. For a buck, I give it a try. For $2, I think I’ll just Tivo the highlight show on the golf channel.

The PGA also is offering a a free instructional video starring PGA of America Director of Instruction Rick Martino, 2005 Teacher of the Year Peter Krause and PGA Professional Michael Breed. That download is available right now.

The Grand Slam of Golf is a silly season event that’s supposed to showcase the winners of the Golf’s four majors each year. This time, however, Mickelson has bowed out, and Woods won two of the majors, so the field will feature Woods; 2006 U.S. Open Champion Geoff Ogilvy; #2 ranked PGA golfer and winner of the 2003 U.S. Open and 2003 PGA Grand Slam of Golf Jim Furyk; and Canadian Mike Weir who won his first major championship when he captured the 2003 Masters.
