Golf Channel’s Michael Breed Headlines West Michigan Golf Show

west michigan golf show 2016As Michael Breed looks forward to headlining the 28th West Michigan Golf Show on Feb.12-14 in Grand Rapids, the energetic star of The Golf Fix on Golf Channel reflected on his roots in the golf business. In that conversation, he mentioned the influence of one well-known and celebrated Michigan teacher, Rick Smith. A member of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame, Smith is best known for his teaching stint with Phil Mickelson and in helping to make Treetops Resort in Gaylord, Mich., a world-class golf destination.

“I’ve known Rick for a long time and I’ve always looked up to him as a teacher and leader in the golf industry,” said Breed, the 2012 National PGA Teacher of the Year. “In fact, I can say Rick’s energy and personality motivated me to become a golf teacher. He was very influential.”

Beginning on Feb. 12 at DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids, Breed will follow in the soft-spike footsteps of Smith who was a headliner at the Show in 1992, 1999 and 2009. “Looking at the past headliners and presenters in Grand Rapids, I couldn’t be more impressed,” said Breed, the Director of Instruction at the Michael Breed Golf Academy at Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point in the Bronx. “Top teachers such as Smith, Hank Haney, Jim Flick, Todd Anderson, Dave Pelz, Mike Bender, Kathy Jensen, Gary Wiren and many more have all come to the West Michigan Golf Show,” said Breed. “And knowing it’s February in Michigan, the attraction wasn’t the weather (laughing) so it must be the people and the Show itself.”

Breed will provide free clinics on Friday and Saturday at the Applied Imaging Seminar Stage. Patrons will be enlightened and entertained by his upbeat personality synonymous with his “Let’s Do This!” saying heard on The Golf Fix, a weekly series now in its seventh season and seen on Mondays in over 80 countries for Golf Channel. With a gift for connecting with everyday golfers, Breed teaches how to have successful outcomes out on the course. In the age of social media, he listens and responds to his large viewing audience’s comments and questions. “I’m ready for a smart and avid bunch of golfers in Michigan, one of the best golf states in the country.”

Held continuously since 1989, the West Michigan Golf Show attracts thousands of Michigan golfers to hundreds of exhibits and will feature clinics, putting contests, new club testing, junior golf instruction, swing analyzers and unbeatable golf shopping values.

Sponsored by Treetops Resort, Applied Imaging, Bridgestone, Golf Association of Michigan and the Michigan PGA, the Golf Show’s charities include Patriot Golf Day, Folds of Honor and First Tee of West Michigan.
