My first day of “Spring Vacation” found me at my usual haunt: Green Oaks in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Late morning was cloudy and temperatures still in the thirties, but as it is Good Friday, quite a few people had the day off, and the course was quite busy.
By the time I finished the second hole, the clouds were breaking up; by the eighth, I shed my sweatshirt and switched to a vest.
My play was a mixed bag. I hit a few absolutely brilliant shots, but was plagued by a series of thin strikes and weak drives. That tells me that on my next round, I need to concentrate on making solid contact.
It’s early. I’m encouraged.

It has been so nice in March, GAM moved the handicap posting season to March 15 through October 31. The normal start is April 1. Personally I think that is not a good move. People have a hard enough time following the guidelines without having changes occur on the fly.
It would be nice if they had informed people of this. I totally missed that one.
Of course, it doesn’t matter, since I have played all my rounds thus far alone, and can’t record them (according to the rules). I may end up only recording a couple this summer.
And, thus I may not be renewing my GAM membership next year.
