Deaf Golfer Kevin Hall Gets Exemption Into AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

As a deaf golfer myself, I am happy to see that Kevin Hall has been granted an exemption into the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Hall, 38, is a veteran of the Korn Ferry Tour and a standout player on the Advocates Professional Golf Association Tour (APGA), where he has won three events.

The APGA was established in 2010 as a non-profit organization with the mission to bring greater diversity to the game of golf.  The APGA Tour Board of Directors works to accomplish this by hosting and operating professional golf tournaments, player development programs, mentoring programs and by introducing the game to inner city young people.  In addition to conducting up to eight tournaments awarding $250,000 in prize money annually, the APGA conducts the Charlie Sifford Player Development Program to aid young minority golfers.

Hall played his collegiate golf at Ohio State and was the 2004 Big 10 Champion, winning by 11 strokes.

This past fall, Hall gained national attention for his sign language introduction to the Masters.

BOYNE Golf Properties Recognized Among Top U.S. Golf and Ski Resorts

Michgian-based Boyne Resorts has had four of its golf resort properties nationwide listed among the 25 best U.S golf and ski resorts by the writers’ of Golf Pass, the leading consumer digital golf membership platform powered by NBC Sports Group.

“Golfers and skiers are always at odds. Skiers can’t wait for snow to fall. Golfers can’t wait for snow to melt. Despite their differences, golf and skiing form a formidable twosome at resorts around the country. These two leisure pursuits anchor the summer and winter seasons, keeping these unique resorts open year-round,” said Golf Pass in the article published in December.

Leading the way on the list for Boyne Resorts are BOYNE Golf in Michigan, including Boyne Mountain Resort and Boyne Highlands Resort (1), along with Sugarloaf (2) and Sunday River (20) in Maine, and Big Sky Resort (8) in Montana. They join other high-profile golf and ski destinations like Keystone, Omni Mount Washington, Park City, Stratton Mountain, and Sun Valley.

The Loop At Forest Dunes

Forest Dunes’ The Loop Ranked 88th In The World

Britain’s top golf publication Today’s Golfer, in conjunction with Golf World, recently ranked The Loop as No. 88 on its list of the Top 100 In The World You Can Play list.

The Loop was one of 23 courses from the United States.

Designed by renowned architect Tom Doak, The Loop is a reversible course that alternates routings daily between the red (even calendar days) and black (odd calendar days).  Using the same 18 greens and fairways, the two courses play totally different.

Today’s Golfer noted: “US publications tend to treat each course on this reversible 18 separately, but we wanted to celebrate Tom Doak’s brilliant concept, routing and shaping by combining them.  The sum of these parts is a truly remarkable achievement.  Black tends to be rated over Red, but there’s precious little between them.”

This is the first world recognition for The Loop by any publication.  Royal County Down in Northern Ireland was proclaimed the world’s top public-access course.  Pebble Beach was the top ranked course from America at No. 6, while Pinehurst #2 was No. 8.

PerfectMotion Introduces “PPI” Motion Efficiency Metric

PerfectMotion® has upgraded the user experience in its industry-leading A.I.-powered, motion training mobile app by introducing the PPI, PerfectMotion® Performance Index. PPI is a numerical measure of motion efficiency from 0 to 100. As golfers work with the app toward the goal of repeatable, efficient body motion with every club, their PPI scores help them measure their success, track improvements, focus their efforts and challenge themselves.

PPI is a moving average, similar to a handicap, computed as an overall measure over a golfer’s last 300 swings and putts, and individually, for BALL and NO BALL training sessions for each club. As a golfer improves their motion efficiency, their PPI increases. Golfers now have a simple, objective measure of performance for their drives, irons, wedges, chips and putts used to help them achieve the ultimate goal of the PerfectMotion® app: lower handicaps, effortless distance and automatic accuracy.

“The app and its AI allow golfers to train with purpose, eliminating their key faults one at a time,” says Rich Kosowsky, PerfectMotion® founder and CEO. “The PPI simply measures that progress. It goes up as a golfer eliminates the most severe fault, scores more perfect motions in a session, and graduates to higher skill levels. We all know how passionate golfers are about performance and data. And unlike a handicap, which requires playing rounds to improve, golfers can improve their PPI anywhere and anytime, with or without a ball. All they need is their phone.”
