GolfBlogger’s Picks

I’m playing in a free fantasy golf league with a $1 million salary cap. Scoring is based on each players’ winnings. Here are my picks for the Masters’:

Phil Mickelson $290,250
Sergio Garcia $280,500
David Toms $277,250
Ryan Moore $75,000
Tom Watson $75,000
Team Salary $998,000

I don’t think you can bet against Phil the way he’s been playing lately. He’s number three in putting—a vital element at Augusta. Mickelson almost certain to finish high.

Sergio is the new best player not to win a major. He’s due.

I’m taking a flyer on Toms; hopefully he has some more magic left in his fairway woods. He also ranks high in putting—fifth in putting average right now.

Ryan Moore is a big time player—even if he is an amateur. Last year, he had perhaps the best year an amateur has had since Bobby Jones, with victories at the NCAA, U.S. Amateur Public Links, Western Amateur, U.S. Amateur and World Amateur events. It would be fitting if he did well at Jones’ tournament.

And finally, I’m picking Tom Watson and just hoping he makes the weekend.
