Don’t look for the usual Thursday start time for this year’s first PGA Tour event. To avoid a final round conflict with the NFL Playoffs, the Hyundai Tournament of Champions runs Friday through Monday. I’m not so sure about finishing on Monday when most are back to work, but the time shift to Hawaii helps. Most of the coverage is on the Golf Channel:

Saturday, Jan. 5 – GOLF starting at 5 PM EST
Sunday, Jan. 6 – NBC starting at 3 PM EST ; GOLF starting at 6 PM EST

Don’t care for the move but as you point out the time shift will help.
I don’t think there would be as much conflict as they think. It’s the wild cards, not the Superbowl.
