Ian Harris of Bloomfield Hills Repeats as GAM Super Senior Champion
BATTLE CREEK – Ian Harris of Bloomfield Hills is in his second year of competing as what the GAM describes as a super senior over age 65, and for the second consecutive year he won the GAM Super Senior Championship.
Harris shot a 1-under 71 for 140 and a three-shot win Tuesday at Battle Creek Country Club in the 5th GAM Super Senior Championship presented by Sullivan Golf & Travel.
Ron Perrine of Holt, who was tied with Harris after the first round at 69, shot a closing 74 for 143 and second place.
Mike Raymond of Jackson was third with a 73 for 148, and Craig John of Plymouth took fourth with a 73 for 148.
In the Legends Division for golfers age 70 and older Larry Yachcik of Fremont shot 76 for 150 and the win.
Dick Bachtel of Linden who shot 78, Michael Phillips of Bloomfield Hills who shot 80, and George Dillon of Midland who shot 72, rounded out the top four at 151.
Doug Kreis, the head golf professional and just the fifth professional in the club’s history, accepted a plaque from GAM Executive Director Chris Whitten honoring the club for its 100th anniversary year. The club was founded in 1919. The GAM is also celebrating 100 years of service to Michigan golf this summer.
