“We are thrilled to return to Michigan for the tenth annual Island Resort Championship – an event that has set the standard from day one as a premier hospitality and competitive experience for our athletes,” said Mike Nichols, the Chief Business Officer for LPGA Qualifying Tours. “Once again this year’s champion will earn a spot in the LPGA’s fourth major of the year, the Amundi Evian Championship in France – an added bonus for successfully navigating the challenging Sweetgrass layout.”

Greeting the 144-player field in Harris, Mich. is a total purse of $200,000. Individuals are set to compete in a 54-hole stroke play format with a cut to the low 60 players and ties after 36 holes. The winner’s share for the event is $30,000.

“We are eager to have the future stars of the LPGA Tour return this season to compete in Harris, Mich. The wait has made the community so excited to see what the players will bring to the table next week,” said Tony Mancilla, the General Manager for Island Resort & Casino. “After we have followed the first few tournaments of the Symetra Tour season, it’s clear the competition level is impressive across the board and we are honored to be able to crown a new champion as she will become one step closer to living the dream of competing on the LPGA Tour.”

Defending champion Daniela Iacobelli (Melbourne, Florida) is among the competitors. The victory in the Great Lakes State in 2019 was one of three top-10 finishes that season, as well as one of three career wins on the Symetra Tour. In seven starts this season, Iacobelli has made three cuts and has a season-best of T6 at the Symetra Classic.

“The win at Sweetgrass meant a lot to me. The first year we got there I immediately had vibes, I knew one day I’d win, eventually,” said Iacobelli. “It was special because I was born in Michigan. I have three professional wins, two in Michigan and one in Florida, both in my home states. I’m always excited to go back because of the relationships I’ve made at that course, I’m an honorary Yooper.”

Action gets underway at 7:30 a.m. ET all three days with play starting off No. 1 and No. 10 tees in the first and second round. Meanwhile, all groups will head off No. 1 tee in twosomes for the final round with a trophy presentation to follow on No. 18 green.
