The ISPS Handa World Super Six is the latest incarnation of ISPS Handa Perth International and is sanctioned by the European Tour, Asian Tour and ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australasia. THE field consists of 30 players from the Asian Tour, 60 players from European Tour and sixty players from the ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australaisia.

A unique format begins with 54 holes of stroke play on the first three days. The top 24 players move on to the fourth round “Knockout Matchplay,” with the top eight earning a bye.

Matches are just six holes, and are played on the 1st (par 4), 2nd (4), 8th (3), 11th (5), 12th (3), and 18th (4). The eight first round winners meet the eight players with byes in the second. In all, five rounds of six-hole matches will be played to determine the winner.

followed by matchplay for the fourth and final round.

After 54 holes, the field is cut to a hard top-24. The top eight players receive byes, with the tiebreaker being the overall third round score, then the last nine, then six, then three, and then the final hole to break ties. Any ties for 24th place will be determined in a sudden-death playoff.

The event is played at Lake Karrinyup Country Club.

“We had a vision to create a tournament which would reinvigorate golf and a bold vision requires the support of fellow forward thinking individuals and organisations,” said Stephen Ayles, Chief Commercial Officer of the PGA of Australia which oversees the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia.

“We are thrilled with the amount of interest the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth has been receiving and this will be boosted with our tri-sanctioning partnership with the European Tour and Asian Tour.”

Asian Tour CEO Josh Burack believes the tri-sanctioned agreement with the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia and European Tour would provide the cornerstone for the game to maintain its expansion in the Asia Pacific region.

“The strong collaboration between the three major Tours is a wonderful step forward for the growth of golf around the world. With the finest players representing each Tour, it will provide a truly cosmopolitan feel for the tournament and I am sure the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth will be highly competitive and entertaining. I have no doubt the Asian Tour golfers will be very keen to perform well to underline their growing strength in world golf,” said Burack.

ISPS Handa is the International Sports Promotion Society, founded and funded by Japanese philanthropist Dr. Haruhisa Handa in 2006. Its goal is to support charitable causes throughout the sporting world and has fostered partnerships with golf governing bodies worldwide to help develop the game at every level and promote blind and disabled golf.

Dr. Handa is an interesting character. Born in 1951, he operates more than a dozen companies in Japan, Australia and the United Kingdom. He has degrees in economics, vocal music, creative arts and a literature. As you might expect, he is an author, who has written more than 220 books that have been translated into seven languages. Some of the best sellers include “Secrets for running a Small Business”, “Understanding Japan” and “Lucky Fortune” – of which more than a million copies have been sold.

A list of ISPS Handa World Super Six winners follows:
