John Daly, for whom I can’t help but continue to cheer, apparently is close to getting a European Tour card. Daly currently stands at 88 on the European Tour money list, and about $230,000 short of making the 60-man field at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. If Daly plays well enough in the BMW Masters in Shanghai, the Barclays Singapore Open and the UBS Hong Kong Open, the DP World Tour Championship would be his thirteenth European Tour start, making him eligible for a card.
Daly has been looking and playing much better these days. He had a chance to get a PGA Tour card by finishing in the top 125, but poor efforts at the Frys.Com Open and McGladrey Classic tanked that. He has a chance at a new life as a full member of the European Tour, though. Up to this point, he’s been playing on exemptions as a past major champion.
Go Big John!

I agree. It’s hard not to root for JD. He’s been playing decent golf this year and has been grinding it out. The third round
86 at the Shriners deflated the year.
He has had a pretty good year and showed that he can still mix it with the best on tour.
Perhaps the European tour might be a good change for him and see him return to the winners circle.
I wish him well.
