Ariya Jutanugarn became the first player on the LPGA Tour to make her first three Tour victories in consecutive fashion. Jutanugar won her first at the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic, followed up at the Kingsmill Championship, then completed the hat trick with the win at Ann Arbor’s Volvik Championship.
Jutanugarn is a power player who — in spite of not having a driver in the bag this week — took advantage of the par fives. Her eagle at the par five eighteenth on Saturday put her at the top of the leaderboard — a position she did not relinquish all Sunday. Christina Kim and Jessica Korda managed to get within one but faded over the back nine.
Jutanugarn finished her round at fifteen under. That was just one shot off the prediction of Travis Pointe PGA Professional Mike Areddy, who thought the winner would finish at sixteen under.
Christina Kim finished second on the strength of a birdie on the par five eighteenth. She finished ten under. Suzanne Petterson, Jessica Korda and Brooke Henderson finished in a tie for third at nine under.
