I have always thought that there was absolutely no reason to have a cell phone on a golf course, but the folks at WeGolf have given me pause to reconsider.
With WeGolf and a GPS enabled cell phone, you can perform a variety of tricks, including keeping score, measuring distances, and viewing the course of your round with Google Satellite images. It’ll perform automatic calculations, lets you publish statistics on the phone and on the web. With a camera phone, you apparently can also publish pictures to go with those stats.
Now everyone in the world will be able to see how you pushed that drive on 17 into the pond.

I agree that cell phone use should be limited on the golf course, but they’re becoming such a big part of our lives that we might as well put them to use.
I covered another cell phone technology for the golf course on the Gourmet Golfwrx blog. It’s called Handi18 and its worth a look.
