The Kestrel 3000 is a high tech pocket weather station that measures current wind speed, maximum wind gust, average wind speed; air, water and snow temperature; wind chill; relative humidity; heat stress index and; dewpoint.
Manufacturer Nielsen Kellerman says that it’s tough enough to take a beating, waterproof and designed to float. Delicate and critical parts like the impeller are designed to be easily replaced.
I think that this would be a really cool gift for the golfer who has everything. No more tossing blades of grass in the air … you can unclip your Kestrel from your bag and hold it aloft (is that legal?—I don’t know).
And if you’re really obsessed, you could track the effects of the humidity on golf ball flight.
