Ko Jin-Young Leads After 54 at ISPS Handa Australian Womens Open

South Korea’s Jin Young Ko will take a four shot lead into the final round of the ISPS Handa Australian Women’s Open in Adelaide tomorrow.

Ko fired a 1-under 71 to take her 54 total to 11-under, four clear of Aussie LPGA rookie Hannah Green, who shot a 66, the low round of the day at the Kooyonga Golf club in Adelaide, South Australia.

Fellow South Koreans Hyejin Choi and Sun Young Yoo are tied for third on 6-under with Yoo’s round boosted by a hole out from 130-metres for eagle on the 17th.

But the highlight of the day at the LPGA event was a hole in one by Swede Jenny Haglund on the 144-metre 14th hole, winning her a Genesis sports car.

“I’ve made a couple of holes-in-one before, but this is obviously the biggest and most important for me, it’s fantastic,” Haglund, 24, said.

“This is my fourth. The others have all been in tournament play, but I’ve never got anything for them, let alone a Genesis. Three lots of nothing and now an awesome car. I can’t believe it.”

The players are staying at the seaside suburb of Glenelg, just a 10-minute drive from the picturesque Kooyonga course.

Ko said she would relax tonight by playing on the beach with her manager as she had done earlier in the week.

She said tomorrow she needed to focus on her game “and think only of my swing key and my putting key, relax and enjoy”.

Mo Martin is the best-placed American on 4-under after an even par third round.

Emma Talley, who played in the final pair with Jin Young Ko shot a 77 to finish on 3-under along with Tiffany Joh, Katelyn Dambaugh and Marina Alex.

Former world No.1 Lydia Ko is also on -3 while Cristie Kerr is a further shot back on 2-under.
