Spring Lake’s Anna Kramer Rallies to Take Medalist Honors at Michigan Women’s Amateur

  SPRING LAKE – Anna Kramer made a memorable member run to the quarterfinals in the 2015 Michigan Women’s Amateur at Spring Lake Country Club, and she is at it again in the 103rd Michigan Women’s Amateur being played this week once again on her home course.

  The University of Indianapolis golfer shot a 1-under 71 Tuesday for a 144 total to top the field, take medalist honors and the top seed for match play.

  The low 32 scorers – the cut was at 161 – start match play Wednesday to determine a “Sweet 16.” More rounds of match play continue through Friday afternoon to determine a champion.

  Elayna Bowser of Dearborn, the first-round leader, shot a 75 for 146 to check in second and take the No. 2 seed, and Julia Stevenson of Highland was third with a 74 for 147.

  Five golfers finished at 150 including another Spring Lake member, Kayla Krueger, who shot 75. The others were Lilia Henkel of Grand Rapids who shot 75, Viktoria Basso of Lake Orion who shot 74, Alissa Fish of Clarklake who shot 73, and Natalie Samdal of Caledonia who shot 77.

  Rounding out the top 10 were Veronica Haque of Rochester Hills who shot 75 for 151, and Kay Zubkus of Ada who shot 75 for 151.
