Today is the last full day that Tiger is supposed to occupy the World Number 1 position. He’s been in that spot for 231 consecutive weeks, but recent poor play and an abbreviation of his schedule finally has conspired against him. This next week, Lee Westwood will assume that position. Martin Kaymer had an outside shot at seizing the top spot, but blew it with a less than stellar showing at Valderrama.
Tiger Woods has been World Number One for the last 281 weeks and for a total of 623 weeks in his career. I really think it’s the end of an era.
